Understand drafts, published videos, and playlists

Draft

A draft is the editable version in Studio. Draft changes do not affect viewers until you publish again. You can preview a draft before publishing.

Published video

A published video is the live version available to connected screens, playlists, and Growth website embeds. Publishing creates a version in history. If you later edit the draft, the published video continues to play until the next publish.

Playlist

A playlist combines published videos into a fixed or shuffled sequence. Only published videos can be added. If a video in the playlist has unpublished changes, playlist preview, sharing, and screen activation remain locked until the video is published again.

Preview links

A preview link is a read-only snapshot for review. It does not automatically update and can expire. It is separate from a permanent website embed.

Website embed

A Growth website embed is a permanent commercial player. It automatically shows the newest published version and is intended for customer-facing web pages.
