Getting started with PixCustom is straightforward, but unlocking its full potential requires a proper setup. This guide walks you through everything—from installing the app to configuring customizable products and managing customer uploads—so you can offer a seamless personalization experience in your store.
Installing PixCustom and Starting Your Free Trial
Begin by installing PixCustom on your Shopify store. You will automatically be enrolled in the Free plan which has basic features.
For maximum flexibility, the Growth and Pro plans allow customers to:
- Upload multiple images
- Set multiple product sides to print on
- Customize designs within advanced, custom-shaped print areas
- Upload larger files
- Download all files per order
After selecting your plan, review the subscription details and click “Approve” to continue.
Adding and Selecting Customizable Products
Once inside the app, you’ll land on the Settings page. Click “Add Products” to select which items in your store will support customization.
You can:
- Search for products using the search bar
- Filter by Collections, Product Type, or Tags
Select your desired products using the checkboxes, then click “Select.”
At this stage, you’ll notice a warning icon next to products that haven’t been configured yet. Only configured products will be customizable for customers.
Configuring Product Print Areas
Click the “Configure” button to begin setting up a product.
Step 1: Define Product Sides
For example, if you’re customizing a T-shirt, choose “Product has 2 sides.” This enables both front and back customization.
You can rename these labels to better match your product (e.g., “Front Design,” “Back Design”).
Step 2: Set the Front Design Area
Select the front image from your product images. Then define the printable area:
- Resize and reposition the print area
- Choose from multiple shape options
- Even define a custom shape using an SVG path
This area represents where your customer’s design will appear.
Step 3: Set the Back Design Area
Repeat the process for the back side. You can keep it simple with a default rectangle or customize it further.
Step 4: Variant Image Overrides (Optional)
By default, the same front and back images apply to all variants. However, you can override images per variant if needed—without redefining the print area.
Step 5: Save Configuration
Once everything looks good, click “Save Configuration.” Your product is now ready for customization.
